Brief biography:


Guozhu Chen received the B.S. degree in electronics from Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1988, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in power electronics from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1992 and 2001, respectively. ,Since 1992, he has been with the Faculty of the College of Electrical and Engineering, Zhejiang University, where he was a Lecturer from 1993 to 2000, an Associate Professor from 2000 to 2005, and has been a Full Professor since 2005.  He has authored or coauthored one book, more than 130 journal articles, and more than 100 conference papers.  He holds about 25 invention patents.  His main research interests include high-power electronics applications and their digital control;  active power quality control, such as active power filter (APF), unified power quality conditioner (UPQC), static Var compensator (SVC), distribution static compensator (dSTATCOM), and distribution flexible ac transmission system (dFACTS);  grid connection of renewable energy/distributed power generation;  large-capacity distributed energy storage systems;  power electronics system integration and high-reliability [power signal integrity (PSI), power integrity (PI), electromagnetic compatibility] technology;  converters for smart grids;  and special power supplies.,Dr.  Chen was the recipient of about ten scientific research awards, including the second-class S&T Progress Prize of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the first-class S&T Progress Award of Zhejiang Province, China.  He was also the recipient of the “New Century Excellent Talents in University” by the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2006.  He was the core team member of the “Zhejiang Key S&T Innovation Group Program of new energy and power electronics” in 2010, the “Elite talent of Southern Taihu Science and Technology Plan” in 2012, the “Thousand People Plan, Specially-invited Expert, Zhejiang Province,” in 2013, and more than 10 scientific research awards, including the 2nd-class S&T progress prize of Chinese Ministry of Education and the 1st-class S&T progress award of Zhejiang Province, China.
